Food and Drink

Where can I eat out while staying at Bridge House?

Guests can make use of our beloved local, the Milecastle Inn, just a 3 minute walk from Bridge House. Renowned for their excellent food and local beers, meals are served every day until around 8pm. We recommend booking a table, as they get very busy throughout the high season; we’re more than happy to do this on your behalf – just let us know when you make your booking.

Other dinner options are also available, including a local fish & chip takeaway which offers delivery, plus a range of local restaurants and pubs, all within a 5-10 minute drive. Please ask us for more information including menus and opening hours.

Where else can I purchase food while I’m here?

We have a small selection of breakfast food, snacks and instant meals in our honesty shop.

There is a Sainsbury’s and a Co-op in Haltwhistle (5 min drive or 40 min walk) or the shop at Herding Hill Farm Campsite is a 10-minute walk away along Shield Hill, just turn right out of our drive.

Pets, Children and Visitors

Do you allow dogs or pets?

Unfortunately we can’t allow any pets at Bridge House, with the exception of service dogs

Do you allow children?

Yes, children under 18 are welcome so long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult over 18, and are supervised at all times whilst on site. Children under 18 are not permitted to stay in a room or hut alone – they must always be sharing with an accompanying adult; this includes where multiple rooms are booked for one group. Children are charged in line with adult rates, and under-2s are free.

Can you provide a travel cot for my baby?

Yes, we have a travel cot for under 2s. We provide this free of charge, with a mattress, waterproof protector, sheet and blanket. Just select it as an extra when you book.

Can I have visitors during my stay?

Yes, with a few conditions:
– Please ask us before inviting anyone to visit
– During the day only, no overnight visitors
– No pets or unsupervised children (as per the T&Cs for your stay)
– Sensible numbers, i.e. one or two people is fine but no big parties please.
