What time is check in/check out?

Check in is from 4-6pm, check out is by 10am. Please let us know if you require checkin or checkout at times outside of these hours, and we’ll do our best to accommodate this.

I’m travelling with another person, and we don’t want to share a bed – do you have a twin room?

Yes! 3 out of our 4 rooms are available to book with Twin bed setup. Just select ‘Twin’ as an extra when you book. The exception to this is Aurora, which has one double bed and is not bookable as a Twin.

What’s breakfast like?

Guests who book our B&B rooms between April-September are provided with breakfast within the price of their stay. Breakfast consists of a continental buffet spread. Find out more here.

Do you provide packed lunches?

We are pleased to offer packed lunches as an extra during the walking season (April-September) – perfect for those who need lunch on the go. For £8.00 per person, you can take away a freshly made sandwich, packet of crisps, piece of fruit, drink and sweet treat. Sandwich options always include our ever-changing Packed Lunch Special, which celebrates our seasonal homegrown produce.

You can purchase your packed lunch when you arrive, or as part of your booking; we’ll take your order when you check in.

Do you provide evening meals for B&B guests?

Whilst we don’t serve evening meals, guests can make use of the highly rated Milecastle Inn, just a 3 minute walk from Bridge House. Renowned for their excellent food and local beers, meals are served every day until around 8pm. We recommend booking a table, as they get very busy throughout the high season; we’re more than happy to do this on your behalf – just let us know when you make your booking.

Other dinner options are also available, including a local fish & chip takeaway which offers delivery, plus a range of local restaurants and pubs, all within a 5-minute drive. Please ask us for more information including menus and opening hours.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

If you are eating with us, we aim to provide food suitable for most dietary requirements – please let us know at the point of booking so we can ensure we have ingredients available for you. You can also ask us for full ingredient and allergen lists for our breakfasts and lunches.

Camping Huts

What’s included in the Huts?

The Huts themselves are equipped with:

  • Two single beds
  • En-suite composting toilet with hot water basin
  • Small table and chairs
  • Plugs for charging devices
  • Electric heater

What are the optional extras I can add to my stay?

  • Linen & towels pack (duvet, pillow, duvet cover, pillowcase, bed sheet, bath towel) (£8pp)

What cooking facilities can I use?

In the Green Room you’ll find a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, along with plates, bowls, mugs glasses and cutlery.

We also have a basic outdoor cooking area with a surface for using your camping stove, plus two large BBQs and a small fire pit which can be used on request.

Food and Drink

Where can I get an evening meal while staying at Bridge House?

If you’re on a budget or arrive late, we keep a stock of good-quality frozen microwave meals, plus sides and ice cream, which you can purchase from us to prepare yourself using the facilities in the Green Room. These start at £5.

This is also available for our Hut guests as an optional extra. No meals are included if you are booking Self-Catered between October-March.

Pets and Children

Do you allow dogs or pets?

Unfortunately we can’t allow any pets at Bridge House.

Do you allow children?

Yes, children under 18 are welcome so long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult over 18. Children are charged in line with adult rates, and under-2s are free.

Can you provide a travel cot for my baby?

Yes, we have a travel cot for under 2s. We provide this free of charge, with a mattress, waterproof protector, sheet and blanket. Just select it as an extra when you book.

Getting Here, Our Local Area

Can I walk to Bridge House from the Roman Wall?

Yes! We are very lucky to be an easy 10 minute walk from Milecastle 42. Directions here

Are you on Google Maps?

Yes – we strongly recommend you don’t just rely on a postcode to get you here, as it will more than likely take to you to our friends at Herding Hill Farm down the road. Whilst they are lovely people, you’ll very much be in the wrong place. It’s best to find us using Google Maps, or by the co-ordinates 54.987218, -2.448103

Our Site and Facilities

Can I park my car at Bridge House?

Yes! We have plenty of parking on our large tarmac drive.

Do you have an EV charging point?

Yes! We have a newly-installed EV charger which you are welcome to make use of for an agreed cost.

Is there somewhere I can store my bike/walking boots etc?

Absolutely! We have secure bike storage, and a drying room for wet boots and coats.

Can I do laundry at Bridge House?

Whilst we don’t have self-serve laundry facilities for guests, we will happily wash and dry any laundry you need, for £10 per load.

What toiletries do you provide?

We supply all our rooms with a range of toiletries which are UK-made, cruelty-free and vegan, all in labelled glass pump bottles. You won’t find hotel-style miniatures at Bridge House – instead, we refill our pump bottles from larger containers.

Can you provide a travel cot for my baby?

Yes, we have a travel cot for under 2s. We provide this free of charge, with a mattress, waterproof protector, sheet and blanket. Just select it as an extra when you book.

Do you have a lounge where I can chill out?

The Green Room is a lovely relaxing space which lots of our guests use to have some quiet time or relax with their travel companions. It’s a conservatory space with lovely views of greenery and neighbouring fields, and there are two sofas and a games table. In here you’ll also find plenty of cushions and blankets, our library, an assortment of games, a hot drinks station, fridge and microwave.
